not only R bikes have a long life, Fs also... just look at the rpm even the red section doesn't really matter

primuss12 is right. This isn't really a tested engine. It's actually the beemer with the shortest development cycle ever. They turned this thing out within about 9 months of having it on the drawing board.

I have the ST version of the F800, and I wonder everyday how long it will last. The engine has a distict clicking sound and it tends to stall when it's cold-more so than other BMW's.

It's a great bike, but I don't see it having the longevity of the "R" bikes.
