@kermitneville, this bit used to scare me too when I was growing up..I think it's the sound of the guy's voice coupled with the odd music. I actually would run out of the room whenever it came on!

@kermitneville I agree with auntygabby... the audio is very psychedelic. And the animation also reminds me of some of the old 1970's children's fairy tale books that had some edge to them (the etched lines for shadow and only the moving characters having any color while the background is stark black and white line drawings). All that gives a very detached feel to it.
