  • I'd love to know what their saying

  • I'm not sure but I think the have got their own language which they use in lyrics.

  • Kjartan always sings in the live shows apart from Amina Kjartan does most of the backing vocals it really gives a good contrast between Jonsi's high pitch and Kjartan's voice.

  • I know exactly what you mean.

  • @rad199 done

  • @Ogorek they do, but they don't use it for everything. Actually, quite a bit of the stuff Sigur Ros does is in actual Icelandic language. But from time to time (namely the entire Parenthesis album), Jonsi uses a language he calls "Hopelandic" (or "vonlenska" in Icelandic) which he said a) does not have any actual grammar or verbage and b) is not unlike singers using "scat" to prepare melodies before writing actual lyrics, he just doesn't end up writing actual lyrics when he uses it.

  • @Talk2Luke Fair enough I was just saying they prefer if people weren't calling it "Hopelandic" because it isn't a language, it's his voice being used as an instrument as you said.

  • @Talk2Luke They hate the term "Hopelandic" it was invented by an icelandic journalist, in fact Jónsi has said in interviews that it's bullshit.

  • "I am dancing in the house of the Lord"....is the translation ...
