My dad, Mick Parsons wasa miner in Brownhills from 1942 - 1946. He wasn't a Bevin Boy but one of the older national servicemen (33) who got drafted into the coal mines after they were called up during WW2. He talked about his experiences fom time to time but ther'es no doubt the work wrecked his health. It must have been a shock for a Londoner who had only known life on buildng sites. A lovely bloke, dead 40 years and I still miss him. A great tribute. Thanks

there are three different mine's in this video, all have long long gone now, Walsall Wood colliery,, the Grove Pit which was situate Norton canes and brownhills and the third was just out of brownhills (Pool Lane).
all where in that time as working Pits in Stafford-shire area, but some now would have come under West Midlands unfortunately

I would like to thank you for such a great job. The song was excellent choice. Magnificent work you did. You know, out of 50 people polled? only 7 of 50 still realize that miners are today working under ground. That's a sad story. Miner's I think are most likely the most forgotten people on this Earth, until and accident occurs. I'm working on my tribute to the miners, and hope it will be half as good as yours. Thank you for remembering there are still underground miners today 2008.
