This video shows you how to install a fuel pump using the "trap door" method. This method involves removing the carpet and cutting the sheet metal behind the passenger seat to expose the fuel tank, pump and all supply/return lines. This method is an alternative to removing the entire fuel tank of you F-body. Consider donating to our cause if you appreciate this content and future development of it!

@LsxMovie Im replacing a fuel pump in my firebird, I got an exact match as myn, the new one comes with all the assembly intact so I can just swap them out, but after cuting the trapdoor, I noticed the electircal thing at 7:42 u mention you dont need to take it off, is it possible to just lift that up and attach it to the new?

You did not reinstall the fuel bucket. Wouln't that cause problems keeping the pump sumberged in fuel at all times or is it not an issue?

@philyt
You don't need to pull the rear axle, and on a 3.8 you don't even have to get the exhaust out of the car, just unhang it and push it to the side.

would this also work on a 2000 camaro??

@ShortMag270 If you want to drop the axle, exhaust, and x-member, have at it. There's a reason why many manufacturers have access doors to the fuel pumps, it makes life easy.
