hello mkg, well the f-16 and m-2000 were purchased at year 1992, back then chinese were not a economic giant and less influencial, but now china is economic giant, the m-2000 and f-16 is ageing so replacement part is a must, america is more willing to supply f-16 part due to "817" taiwan-us agreement which means providing defence weapon. Growing trade relation btw china and france made it really difficult to get m2000 part. Taiwan has already store some m2000 :(

@grantourismo0109 well about F16 it can be true and it makes sense, but about mirage 2000 it dont make any sense, if taiwan can buy mirages from france and china cant stop the deal, than how come they are pressuring french to stop supplying spares.the thing is as long as u pay france they dont care, they will even sell rafale.

it is politics made them choose f-16, usa will supply parts for f-16 due to defence need , mirage 2000 is good but hard to get parts due to chinese pressure on french

mirage 2000 is a good air craft,but i think its not better than F16,if it was that good then taiwan wont go for F16,why they buying F16 when they got some thing which u think is better than F16,why UAE choose F16 over mirage,why pakistan choose F16 block 52 over mirage 2000-5 and gripen,F16 is much more proven fighter than mirage,dont get me wrong i like mirages as well,but i think F16 deserve more credit and keep in mind F16 with AMRAAM is a serious killer,it can kill any thing, again anything
