Bluegrass Snow Drive - When The Ship Comes In

Driving south on I-17 out of Flagstaff going to pick up a friend at the airport in Phoenix. Cloudy all the way down but the trip back was driving sheets of rain turned to sleet, fog, and finally snow around 6,000 feet. The wind was fierce! Not a problem the entire way though :-) The Hillmen do Bob Dylan's "When The Ship Comes In" ... back in 1968 I think. If you don't have this cd GET IT!

The Hillmen album was recorded in '63-'64 but not released until a couple years later after Chris Hillman became well known as a member of the Byrds. The real name of the band that recorded the Hillmen album was the "Golden State Boys" which was Vern and Rex Gosdin, Don Parmley and Chris Hillman. I agree.. it's a great album! :)

I had never heard this version of "When the ship comes in" before. What is the official name of the band which is singing ? I cannot find them and I really like this version.

Did you know that Dylan wrote this song in a hotel room, one evening when he had been refused from a party with Joan Baez ! This man is a real poet !
