Frances Little Park
PARK, Frances Bradshaw Little, of Richmond, Virginia, died August 28, 2011. She was born to her late parents, John Clifton and Lula Dorn Little in Washington, D.C. on November 14, 1919. She was the widow of the late Herbert William Park, M.D. She is survived by her son, H. William Park (Carole) of Richmond; her son, Donald Bradshaw Park (Terri) of Goochland; her son, Christopher Stewart Park (Julianna) of Richmond; her daughter, Pamela P. Mechling (Jeffrey) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; her daughter, Jennifer P. Graham (Gary) of Richmond. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michele Park, Caroline Park, Suzanne Park, Katherine Gerecke, Anne Ellis, Benjamin Mechling, Stephen Mechling, David Graham, Mark Graham; and three great-grandchildren: Madison Gerecke, Abigael Ellis and Claire Ellis; and 3 stepgrandchildren, Zachary Lewis, Mariah Lewis, and Austin Lewis. Mrs. Park, having been an only child, was blessed with a husband and five children, all of whom brought her great joy. Together she and her family made many visits to the Outer Banks where they explored from Corolla to Ocracoke, the wide beaches, woodlands, and the sunken ships at the water's edge. She loved visiting Duck when it was just a desert island and a U.S. Navy dive-bombing range for carriers at sea. Traveling adventures including Scotland, England, Japan, Hawaii, Soviet Union, Bali, France, Germany and others were dear to her heart. Reading to her children was always a great pleasure for her as she would enact all the parts of the story. She was also well known as the "Wicked Witch of Ridge Top" on Halloween night. Her life was wonderful and full of love for everyone she met. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond Virginia 23229, September 2, at 11 a.m., with reception to follow. Church office telephone is 804-288-7811. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad on Patterson Avenue. (www.tuckahoerescuesquad.org)

Joyce and I were sorry to hear about Fran's passing. She was a real "force of nature"!
We both loved her irrepressible sense of humor and of course the amazing ease with which she could make you feel at home, even when, as we on several occasions did, people would announce themselves "passing through" Richmond.
She will be missed.
