The funny thing is, I ran SpinRite on my laptop hard drive, and I get zero ECC. How is it possible?

What are you talking about? Spin write is a good app. Ive used it for years. Never a problem...alot of people feel like I do. People feel your way to but believe me..spin write is not bunk man.Speak for yourself not everyone. Screensvers was a trusted show, and i think they also like the app.

if the guy can't understand dns and networking, and is selling people a load of garbage with his explanation, what do you think he is doing with spinrite? Spinrite is nothing more than a confidence game, it give you false hope that it's doing something for your disks, when it isn't. Repairing a ntfs bootsector is friggin easy if you know what you're doing.
Read up on how hard disks work and what a boot sector is and you'll see what I mean. A monkey on a type writer could fix it.

Well you have a right to your opinion, however mistaken you are. I just told you I used Microsoft's command line tools " FIXMBR " and CHKDSK /R ( Recovery ) to do the repair which in most cases works. The boot sector MBR was not corrected. Spinright repaired the sector, so I did not have to format the 2003 server OS with a installation of SQL 2000 with a 100GB database.

this guy is an idiot, spin write has been debunked by every expert there is, it will destroy your data, and make you poorer.

I used it myself and it helped repair a drive with a damaged NTFS bootsector that " FixMBR" and Chkdsk /r would not repair.
