It is worth paying attention to this video if you have suspected cylinder head gasket leak. The detector will give you a sure sign that exhaust gas is leaking past into the cooling system and either pressurising the cooling system beyond what is acceptable and overheating the cooling system. You can check for gasket leak and any signs of a cracked head. This tool will save you money in unnecessary stripping for investigation...... and is also an excellent service tool for checking for any gas present that acts as an early warning .. there is nothing worse than having an engine overheat when you don't need it to.

  • Heya... I was a professional mechanic for many years, and as such I had to deal with a lot of cooling system issues. Your version of the tester is very similar to what I used, and what I LOVE about your video is how you used your breath to show the color changes. GREEN means perhaps a 'mild' issue, which might not show overheating all the time, just ocassionally, and YELLOW in my experience indicates a more 'direct' compression leak into the system. Thx for posting this! r-

  • @reluctorvalve Thanks,.. The breath test as a suggestion by a collegue to show the changes in colour since we had nothing with a gasket leak to show as an example.

  • Hi ,..yeah, okay I am glad it was useful

  • Thx for the response. I have a 1992 Toyota Camry, 3.0 V6 that I suspect has a mild level compression leak. I have posted a couple of previous repairs on this car on youtube, and as I test it for a compression leak with the same type tester, I will put my results up for others to also see as you did. Thx for sharing your information. -r.
