Even becoming a retained firefighter is hard, have I missed something. The initial application stage is the same as the wholetime. I'm in the process of trying to become a RDS Firefighter and awaiting Physical and Practical tests next week , the written tests were hard but after the third time I passed. Being a Retained Firefighter doesn't mean you are less than a wholetime Firefighter you are the same. When others are running out of a fire .... firefighters are running in...retained or not
firefighters are firefighters....it's not just a way into the wholetime system....it's a job....they should be ashamed of theselves for shunning the RDS personnel......Fire doesn't desciminate.....either way they are firefighters and have the same training and can both do the job....and that is all that matters!

"Retained Firefighter who's dipped their toe in the water" "wanting to become a fully fledged Firefighter" , what a joke ............... a firefighters a firefighter .................. or so they say !! comes across as retained aren't the real thing ..............fires dont make allowances just cause its a retained pump at it
This is definitely the wrong attitude to retained recruitment. The whole video focuses entirely on the the idea of using the RDS as a way into Wholetime. The presenter shows the typical ignorance of retained against "fully fledged firefighter". Its disappointing in a sense that HFRS allowed this to be released without showing RDS crews as the dedicated individuals that they are but as a back door into Wholetime.
I want a bleapa....
