Why can't people govern themselves based on the fact that they are capable? Why can't one neighbor help another? Does there really need to be a government to protect the people when the people are capable of protecting themselves as ONE UNIT?

In 200 years we will look back at the rate black people are sent to prison, and realize it was worse than slavery. I would say no more than 10% of the population realizes this fact. It is helpful to understand the theory of relativity.

regarding the slaves: you gotta realize everything was different back then slaves were commonplace because they were veiwed as outsiders of the country; even slaves had slaves, and while this certainly doesnt justify the fact that it happened you have to realize that slavery was a factor before any of this had gotten started. besides, Abe Lincoln wasnt born yet to tellem :P

I wish neighbors could just govern themselves however human nature would disagree with you here. the key is "limited" government. why do you think there are so many checks and balances laid out in the constitution? supreme court, the senate, house of reps, its not just the president and his elite group, ect were all put into place by the brilliant minds of our founding fathers.

Yeah they never mention that in these videos, and it never ceases to amaze me. I mean, these people who made this video...they KNOW what America's policies were towards women, blacks, indians, catholics, the irish, etc., etc....they KNOW it...and yet they still manage to blurt out lines like "America was founded on freedom for the individual". How do these people manage to rationalize that glaring conflict?

At best it's a grossly oversimplified & entry-level presentation of history, civics, & politics. At worst it's a deliberately dishonest setup to trick you into into believing people Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck.

The sad truth is that the American Constitution was designed for an American people. We're rapidly loosing our nativist identity and becoming an urban cosmopolitan herd of strangers. When this happens Republican government becomes actually more dangerous since it places power in the hands of a judicial elite with values separate and hostile to the culture they rule.
