this is USA or the lost Island?

The General Staff of Imperial Germany drew up a plan for warships and merchant vessels packed with troops to make a suprise attack on New York and occupy Manhattan, holding it and its people hostage in case the U.S. went to war, believing that "soft" Americans would rather surrender than risk their lives and property.
"Red Dawn"'s premise is simply this type of plan on a larger scale, intended to occupy a portion of the U.S. and hold it hostage.

Now if you'll see here, you can catch some internet warriors battling it out.
Listen, kiddos, if you think where you were born on this earth is an accomplishment and something to be proud of, it really isn't.

By in our time they mean the modern day. As in Post WWII (The Japanese temporarily landed in Alaska)

Wow you freaks take movies WAY to seriously! It's a good movie, who cares what's inaccurate, let's just leave it at that.

My God people, it's a movie. Can't we just enjoy it without spouting propaganda, or arm-chair tactics or pro or anti gun vitriol. Patrick Swazye is rolling over in his grave while Charlie Sheen is hitting the pipe, again, and somehow still alive.
Do the top commenters not know what "In our time" means?

No foreign army? Didn't the Republic of Texas invade part of U.S.-claimed territory with Texas troops in the 1840s?
