This is me starting up my 1995 Honda VF750C Magna (andd revving a bit) that I've just spent the last 6 months doing up (and still haven't finished!).

I think She's still sounding a little bit rough though, not sure if that's normal for this bike or if it's anything to do with the Vance & Hines exhausts I had to fit after discovering the original ones were all rotting through. I think the carbs might need rejetting too, but I'll find that out for sure next week when I take her in to be MoT'd.

  • Dave, can you tell me how the magna feels at freeway speeds 80mph? Does it feel like the rpms are high and the engine is working too hard or does it feel comfortable?

  • @poorasslawstudent

I sold the bike about a year ago, but from what I remember she didn't chug along like a regular V-twin cruiser, but neither was she screaming away. She settled quite nicely at about 60mph without feeling too stressed or working too hard.

  • Nice Magna! Painted wheels and that twin tail light looks really good! Is it LED's ? I'm also planning a different setup on my '96 Magna tail. Love these bikes!

  • @blaupf - No, not LED's, just a pair of universal round lights with twin filaments.

I must admit though, they look a tad odd and out of place so I might modify the back end again to take something more traditional-looking.

Yeah, I love the wheels too. Having the polished rims between the black centres and the tyres is kinda reminiscent of white-walls, but still look in keeping with the chrome. They really finish the look of the whole bike :-D

  • Custom w/stock motor. 99 vf750c magna owner. 70mph highway here and rpm is usually around 4.5 to 5 K. It really does seam awkward but... The motor is a 4cyl high rpm power plant shifting in to 3rd around 70mph... "O'ya!" It is the 3rd gen. and would have been geared differently if other wise harmful.

  • Sounds great, I'm rebuilding a 1984 v45 Magna. Just did carbs and plugs. Just gotta throw some oil in there see if she'll start.

Nice work man, good lookin bike

  • Sounds smooth to me man! And pretty mean, at that! Especially at :20

  • @ozyran

Let me know how that goes. I'm toying with a K&N filter too, so I'll probably need to rejet afterwards.

  • Extremely NICE MAGNA. I gotta get some of these Vance and hines. Mine's a Black 94. Ill NEVER get rid of it.

I'd been planning on doing it up for a few months now, but never got round to it, the attempted theft left me thinking that it would definitely be stolen if I sparkled it up. After seeing yours I'm definitely going to do mine, it's a bike worth the effort, and it's bloodline is worth remembrance.
