No one, not even the most devoted atheist, denies that the Bible is the most influential book ever written. So, what is the most important verse in this most important book?
You know that the first day and night doesn't happen until the fifth verse of Genesis 1 right?
Also, if you are going to take this first chapter literally, then where is it in the Bible that God creates the Strong force? Where does he create the electroweak symmetry breaking? Where is it in the Bible that God creates the Gravitational force? Or should we take the definition of "Light" in the first chapter to actually be the universal speed limit for bosons and fermions?
(part4) "Man must live not by bread alone but by every utterence(knowledge of good and bad)coming out of God's mouth" Math4:4. The more one study the Word of God and lives by it the closer he is to endless life.
(part3) (as if having the needed knowledge=having the right to eat from it). Lesson for us all is the same: If we want to move toward eternal life we need to turn to God for Knowledge how to live and not die(Prov2:6). Knowledge is the first thing we need.(Prov4:7) Then comes for ex.love, mercy etc.because in order to love first we have to KNOW what true love is. So the tree gives us very precious lesson that if one learns he's got the key to endless life.(Prov3:18) (look part4)
(part 2)God acted as a loving parent giving his children precious information how to keep their life forever, not to lose it. The tree would remind them that life depends on knowledge which they didn't have as having just been created, being very young in contrast to God who HAD the knowledge as the Creator and Source of life. The ban not to eat from it would remind them of constant necessity to turn to God for knowledge and not to try to act according to their natural ignorance(look part3)
What do you think about a point of view that the most important verse in the Bible is Genesis 2:9,17 "God made..the tree of KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND BAD."This is the first thing God did after he had created man. It must be of great significance to us!I think the tree of knowledge means:to be able to live endlessly one needs KNOWLEDGE what is GOOD for life and what is BAD -harmfulf to life, what supports life and what destroys it.Naming one of the trees in the paradise in this way(look part2)
No matter what your opinion is it's irrelevant - God created the Heavens and the Earth... end of story and your opinion isn't gonna change it. You may speculate using your vain philosophy till the blue in the face and think you've won the argument but when the Final Day comes all your arguments will be flattened before the Face of God Almighty.
@gruvymon Second, the people who oppose your view of 'good' and 'bad' on the extreme scales, such as on matters of genocide, murder, rape, etc. are not fully within their mental means. Where as you are (for the most part) a conscious, caring individual, they are more like animals.
To me, that is all I need to feel good about the world.
And in regards to the belief in a deity, that stems from the same barbarism as rape - is it a delusion that those people need in order to go through their day.
@gruvymon No, I'm well aware of your 'case'. You want to believe that 'good' and 'bad' have absolute definitions because the thought that genocide might be seen as 'good' terrifies you.
But the answer is simple, as I've explained. First off, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks the value of 'good' to be. That is the great part of it - the fact that its subjective means that only your version of it is correct for you and no one can ever tell you different
You speak with great authority on the psychopathic condition of despots. You seem unaware that you are making my case for me. How do you know that what you call psychopathic is not actually a more perfected human state? If I believe that, am I absolutely wrong? Actually, I do agree with you that despots do not correctly judge right and wrong. I'm with you and the vast majority of humanity on this.
Interesting though that the vast majority of humanity also believes in God.
