July 14th on Woody's Birthday Arlo and I went to Madison WI. He did a benefit concert at The Barrymore Theater that night to a very excited audience! The next day, we took to the streets and ended up at the Capitol to the "Solidarity Sing-along"
LIVE AT THE PEOPLE'S HOUSE! @ Madison, Wisconsin.
I was so inspired and honored to be there! So great to be among the people who give a damn!
Spiritual people all over the world with big hearts are truly the strong ones.
Not the "fat cats" who surround themselves with money, power & false securities. They are weak, they just don't know it yet.
That's my take, anyways. :)
Pete Seeger once told me that it doesn't matter who your President, Senators and congress folks are. If people organize themselves all across this country, and take care of each other, with love, they will be unstoppable!
This rally at the Capitol in Madison, WI started with 300,000 people and every day since then, they have continued to rally!
Arlo and I were so happy to be there.
We met a US Vet, Hollis, a great man who has been fasting to bring our troops home. This day was his 30th day. It's people like him that make a HUGE difference.
PEACE may be "Back By Popular Demand" after all! Arlo wrote that song a few years too early.
A quote from his song, "Patriot's Dream".
"Perhaps too much is being asked of too few,
You and your children with nothing to do.
Hear us now for alone we can't seem
To try to rekindle a Patriot's Dream"
Dear Guthrie Family; "Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough.....
I wish the "Silent Majority" could be inspired by these non-silent ones and realize what our collective voices could accomplish....
Much gratitude for supporting and posting.....

I was at the Barrymore that night, in the vip section. It was a very intense night for me to see and hear Arlo live, knowing how his father stood with the working man and to see Arlo carrying that tradition on, then to get to meet him and have Jackie and him sign my book afterwards. I was awestruck, still am. That night has inspired me to always stick up for the little guy. I protested and that didn't work, but I still have my vote.

This song is truly timeless. It's brought tears to my own eyes for no less than 50 years.
I wish I still had the stamina, and the spunk, because I'm feeling that we're right back where we were in the 60s, only maybe worse this time, and I'm running short on steam. We have GOT to stand up and regain control of this country before it's too late, and I fear we're running out of time.
