For beginners to intermediate players like me learning to solo, try to get your notes to more or less follow the chord progression. Playing up and down the G major scale or major pentatonic sounds good, but you'll really sound "with" the music more to follow the chords. As the video shows, remember the verse part goes G D Em Em 3 times I think then Am Em Am D once back to the top. Excellent backing track by the way, nice progression and a good tempo.
