Germany is definitely the best swimming country, in Europe at least, and even in the world they're behind only the USA. But USA has a bigger population, so in that comparison Germany is even better than USA. Germany has won the most gold medals in European Championships, and in the World Championships they're in 2nd place behind USA.

@theoneandonlypaddy There definitely IS professional swimming. Do you think Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin, Katie Hoff, etc., make money doing anything other than swimming (and modeling swimsuits for Speedo)?
