You can get official nintendo cables taht let you use your gba or gba sp as a controller. Also, there are third party adapters that allow you to use a nes or snes controller with your gamecube which also means it will work while using the gameboy player.

thay made a snes style controller for it its called the hori game boy player controller or something like that (i know it was made by hori)

@smashmaster13 Yeah, somebody posted about those earlier. I looked into it and they sell for between $100-160! That's a bit much for a controller in my opinion. You could probably pay an electronics person to professionally modify a NES/SNES controller to fit the Gamecube at that price point.
