Since both LWOP and the DP are for 'end of the line people,' revenge / punishment as well as never allowing them around regular people again are the sole purposes

Join the military and you'll see more than you can stomach. I'm German and in the Bundeswehr and we've been in Afghanistan and it was pretty horrific.

In America we execute about 4 people a month. It's not that bad. Something that's weird is that depending on who is being executed it is more or less a public spectacle.

I believe its cyanide gas. It is filtered before the exhaust is pumped through a ventilation pipe. As for the singing many humans exhibit eccentric behaviors before execution. The fear of death in its self has been studied and it has shown that inmates who were put to death have increased brain activity up to 48 hours prior. And the mind can play tricks on you as it struggles to comprehend death..
