Secretary to the North Korean Embassy in the UK, Song Chol Jang, speaks at the CPGB-ML international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011.

The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the DPRK's victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 -- 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerrilla movement (M 26-7).

Mr Jang talks emotively of his deep comradeship with progressive workers in Britain, and his joy in seeing the advances of the British Communist movement during his tenure.

  • Interesting :)

  • @WorldRevolutionaries thanks cde - pass it on!

  • Hooray for submissiveness to dictators! Let's idolize them all, and hopefully one day we'll have our own we can bow down to and throw all of our dignity and independence out the window. Working people will never be free by handing over their lives to POWER. POWER should be destroyed.

  • @leavantgarage Hmmm. Ill informed AND self-contradictory. The act of destruction (of POWER - the state) to which you refer) can be carried on only by a greater POWER. The power of the oppressed, organised in a revolutionary state (POWER) of a new type, to overthrow the existing tyranny of the capitalist imperialist dictatorship ('democracy') is precisely such a power. This is how workers will be free. Not by 'handing over power', as they currently do in the UK/US, but by seizing it!

  • @ProletarianCPGBML do you believe your own bullshit? The North Koreans have been completely victimized by DPRK. They have indoctrinated them, prevented anyone from leaving the country, starved them, thrown them in prison, and executed them; all while your leaders live lives of ridiculous excess. It is a system run on fear and subjugation. There arn't enough character spaces for my fingers of fury to write down, so why don't you debate me? post a video and I'll respond. Back ur shit up or shut up

  • fantastic to hear him speak.

  • A good point to make is why would this man lie? Yes he is part of the embassy but he could easily defect. If the DPRk is so bad why didnt he?

  • Why in the world UK is maintaining a diplomatic relationship with DPRK when she is America's strong ally, a member of NATO and also participated in the Korean War along the United Nations?

  • He speaks better English than SK President.

  • The dictator is dead. Long live the struggle for workers' power and socialism! Down with tyranny in all its guises! Down with the "People's Republic" of North Korea! For freedom in Korea - North and South!

  • The CPGB is the laughing stock of the far-left, which is no mean feat considering the vast array of jokes on display, but I urge those reading this comment not to take the threat too lightly.

In the 80s, WRP assisted Saddam Hussien and Gadaffi's henchmen in order to suppress their political opponents in this country. CPGB-ML share the same sinister politics.

Stalinism is the enemy of the working class.

  • While the CPB & the Morning Star hide their Stalinism behind populist slogans, CPGB-ML should be congraluated for their honesty. However, as a third-camp socialist, I do not consider them to be comrades, but enemies of socialism and my class. I abhor the legacy of Stalinism, detest its apologists and look forward to the day that the people of DPRK are free from the interminable dictatorship of the bureaucracy.

"Neither Washington nor Pyongyang but International Socialism"

  • good speech

  • a true communist!! a real comrade! what a pitty he went back and didnt stoped helping us, western comrades
