First, you did a great job needling that through such a small hole. I like your potting soil. Keep posting so we can see your progress.
This is the first year we've tried our luck with upside down containers. Have to admit, I'm hooked now. Feel free to check us out.
BEST OF LUCK TO YA!

I got the itch this year too. lol
I am growing a cucmuber upside down in a 5 gallon bucket with greenbeans on the top. So far so good....except the plant isn't growing down..instead it found the edge of the bucket and is now growing up.
I'd love to see updates on your honey dew melon though...it was in a much smaller...easier to handle pot.
The 5 gallon bucket weighs a ton...I got it hooked over a post on the fence..and that is as far as it's going to go under my power. lol

Thank you for the comment, I can't wait to see your upside down video, 5 gallon is cool, about the honey dew melon :( About 5 days ago it was supper windy here where I am, the wind took the plant down the pot was still hanging but the plant was on the ground ( without the root!) that was sad. We planted 1 tomatoes upside down and like you said the plant isn't growing down.

That stinks! I'm sorry you lost your melon!
I'll have to make a video for sure! Right now i'm trying to build my greenhouse, and I'm too frustrated to video anything. lol

Thanks for the reply, I can't wait to see your garden Video...I feel the same frustration right now, we are trying to build the chicken coop because we are getting some egg laying chickens after our camping trip and and trying to finish painting the house ahhhhh so frustrated but love every moment of it. Keep up the good work alright.

Wow. I am really amazed with the fact that anyone is actually watching any of our videos. This pretty lil honey dew is our first upside down plant. When we bought these, we didn't have any intentions for planting them upside down. But then we watched some you tube videos and got the itch. Thanks for the wonderful comments. We'll keep posting the progress. Best of luck on your own upside down planting adventures!
