The ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs. Built in Sketchup v8 from blueprints and behind the scenes photos.

  • I know it would require some artistic license but why not do a FULL tour of the Falcon? Include the bunks and laundry area as well as the head?

  • @Chrisdrumz a full tour might happen after I get all the movie details in place. that's my priority, and it's a lot of work. either way, the more detail I copy, the more authentic any artistic license I take will seem.

  • Good graphics! Just never understood the dimensions of the gun turrets. On the top one you climb up to it and looks like you lay down and fire with the guns above you? In a New Hope, Luke and Han are firing with guns out front and sitting up straight? Kinda confusing....

  • @IWDTC the idea is that the artificial gravity changes direction inside the gun turrets, so that they seem to be sitting up in chairs that are actually perpendicular to the floor in the rest of the interior.

  • I was 9 again for 3 minutes and 23 seconds and 11 parsecs.

  • Why go to all the expense of the fancy CGI when you could've just filmed the real ship?

  • the pausing is annoying as shit...

  • Awful lot of work gone into this - amazing, thank you for sharing.

  • @finfito Chiming in late: I like Indigo

  • I watch Star Wars primarily for three characters: Han, Chewie..and the Falcon. This is the most amazing rendering I have ever seen! I found myself checking the details..both on my Code 3 model and that waay cool '07 Legacy Collection piece. I have some fan made "blueprints" from the early '80s that still make me smile..even though the artists had to guess what rooms go where. A thoroughly victorious project!

  • Fantastic - thank you for this

  • Do you have this model on the 3D Warehouse anywhere? I'd love to check it out...

  • I'll guess Han and Chewie are using the two dices at 1:20 - 1:22 to choose, who's gonna fly..? :)

  • @v8matey interesting, I may have to look into this. I do actually have 3dsmax, but I've never had the time to learn it.

  • So you only show what we have seen a million times in the movies? I was hoping for the rest of the ship.

  • What's with the start/stop crap going on? The video plays then stops then you have to click your mouse to get it to continue. This goes thru the whole video.

  • Looks like Borderlands graphics :D i like it

  • I like the dice in the cockpit. Nice touch.

  • @finfito /have your tried UDK...? There is a way to import sketchup models into it using 3dmax as the go-between program..

  • I never imagined you could do something so complex such as this with sketchup. The style of the render is very nice. I love how everything is outlined and looks like a drawing. You are a great modeler. Good job!

  • @finfito hmmm.. I guess I could buy that idea..... star wars physics...lol

  • @einherje71 The movie set of the full scale exterior of the Falcon is about 85.5 feet, or 26.06m, long. Because my interiors and exteriors are replicas of those sets, my exterior is that size. However, the interior would never fit inside the ship if it was really that size, which is why theoretical figures, such as 40m, are sometimes given.

  • Awesome. How long do you think this ship is? MF is sometimes around 25 m. long and other times almost 40 m.

  • Magnificent! I just began using Sketch-up. Do you give lessons? I'd love to learn from a master sketch-up artist. :)
