  • The last year Ford put a 390 in a pickup was 1972. Both trucks in this video must be "Y" code 360 engine trucks. However, maybe someone either swapped in a 390 into the 2wd truck or stroked the factory 360 to 390.

  • You are right the 390 in the 2wd was put in it by the previous owner. I pulled the motor out of the 2wd and put it in place of the 360 in the high boy.

  • isn't it that only the highboys have the fuel filler cap on the cab instead of farther back???

  • I don't know but mine does.

  • highboy 4x4s have 4 inch lift blocks and divorced transfer case and were made from 1967 to 1977 and a half

  • Yep thats what mine has.

  • @miniredreward : That is incorrect. The last year the 390 was used was 1976. I have a '73 ford f100 with the original 390.

  • @miniredreward

72 is not the last year for the 390fe I have a 1973 f100 that has a factory 390. Ford made so many 390's they wound up trying to use them up in later years.

  • @miniredreward Actually you're wrong. 1973-1976. M CODE = 4 BBL 390 V8 and H code = 2BBL 390 V8

  • @jp23jd alot of f100's and f150's have the in cab fuel tank. its right behind the seat

  • @miniredreward LOL dream up ? wtf lol anyways cool video. And I can't get the VIN number because the person doesn't own the truck anymore. Plus he died.

  • @1972FordF150 Well then, that truck needs to be in a museum because it is one of a kind. I wonder if Ford still offers the "If you order the truck, Ford will put what ever engine you dream up into the truck" program? You can believe whatever you want, but go get the V.I.N. number from that truck and run it against Ford's decoder.

  • @miniredreward They ordered the truck dude. They ordered it with a 390 V8 in it ! and yes I know that. The 352-360 and 390's look exactly the same ! we have a few FE blocks in the garage and I know what they are.

  • so what? fuck you I'm running a 429, run circles around that heavy pig. no ones perfect

  • @drew7473 Your dad must have had a problem with the thermostat. If it is stuck open the coolant will circulate between the engine block and the radiator preventing it from warming up (or taking longer to warm up). Normally the thermostat stays closed forcing the coolant to stay in the engine till it gets hot. Then it opens and circulates through the radiator to maintain the warm engine temp. The truck's heater gets its heat from the coolant. Cold coolant means no heat. $5 would have fixed it

  • @sjeng100 you have mistaken the 360 and 390 engines, if you want to refuse the difference I will sell you some 360s for the 390 price.
