  • My God. Say what you like, but Seles was a demon on court. So much of her fire reminds me of Nadal -- these monstrous hitters simply did not accept the idea they might lose a point. Such power and relentless offense/defense/offense/defense. Stunning. And here Seles was playing a Sabatini who was clearly at her very best, and at her best Sabatini was a genius.

My word, those girls fought like pit-bulls. Seeing this effort does underscore: if not stabbed by Graf-nut, she would have been GOAT.

  • To think that at one time we had Seles, Graf, Sabatini, Navratilova, Capriati, Sanchez Vacario, Fernandez and Novotna all playing the tour....the good ole days.

  • Agreed with KJ...

  • So this is what people want modern day tennis to be like?...

  • B O R I N G

  • Imagine if Seles in '91 had been in the shape of Monica in the late '90s, Monica would have never been able to last like this in the heat. She really moved so well before the... well you know, the atrocity in Hamburg... :(

  • 1:00 - WOW. What a rally!

  • My problem is Sabatini is she could come up with a big upset over Graf BUT then lost to Seles or Navatilova or Sanchez in the finals. She just did not go all the way by winning a sequence of big wins to win the big titles or slams.

  • @rlopen10

Her dad dying from cancer in 1993-98 must have had a higher impact on her than this minor stabbing.

  • Seles won this, but I really liked the way Sabatini played. She didn't have a lot of power, but she was ultra-consistent, kept her shots deep with good spin, always moved her opponent around and she was very athletic and graceful. She was beautiful to watch!

  • I prefer this tennis way more than the tennis today, so artistic. Looking to construct the point with topspin/power/angles...the women today just try to blow a hole through the court with the exception of a few. To me, tennis isn't the same sport as before, imagine if they made a baseball bat twice the size, would the homerun record not get smashed? That's what happened to tennis, the equipment now allows the kind of power that is women's tennis now...not as much talent needed now

  • OMG, This is so different, This is awesome
