I was there (racing) and despite that Armstrong is an admirable human being he was allowed to have a full staff before the swimming start, and according to Iron Man rules that is not permit, and he did took off his helmet before hanging the bike on the rack...but who am I to point that out? but of course! is Lance Armstrong and he is "allow" to do that...Iron Man organization was all about Armstrong and they even forgot about who won the race -Bevan Docherty- too bad!

Penalty for Amstron, by taking off his helmet before leaving the bike.

Typical, materialistic. It's the athlete not the equipment or in this case, the brand lol..

Why is that? Nike has sponsored him since his early days and was one of the few sponsors to stick with him through his cancer treatment. Nike is a good company with excellent products

I have to admit I lost a lot of respect for Armstrong when I saw him put on the Nike's...

Absolutely! at end I focus on my own race and enjoy it and finish it...all that counts is to be on your own...I keep on my mind the memory of crossing the finish line, nobody else....I'm glad you enjoyed too!

I was a participant in this race also, and I agree too much focus was on Lance. And he did commit many rule violations that were not addressed...he threw his swim cap on the ground after exiting the water, several times there was not the 4 bike lengths between racers. And the wrong turn issue?? It's each athlete's responsibility to know the course.

I hope you enjoyed the race in spite of the Lance circus. I know I did! :-))

Dunno. But Lance used socks (!?!). Who ever heard of a (pro) triathlete who puts socks on? That's age-grouper stuff. Lol!
