Home built shallow water anchor system. Power-Rod! or Bottom-Grabber! I don't know which name to keep. I built this from stuff in my garage, a few things off ebay and our local home improvement store. Details: it extends 8' measured from water line on boat to end of fiberglass rod fully extended. I used 1" square aluminum tube for the "arms" and a 2" angle for the "mount". The linear actuator is IP65 rated and will hold 500lbs....Sorry I was mistaken in the audio, I said 1000 lbs.
Update:
Radio control module used is:
http://www.robotshop.com/firgelli-automation-4-channel-remote-1.html
For power actuator I used LINAK LA30 with 16" stroke.
I also built a fused "relay board" with 30amp automotive relays in sockets to protect the smaller relays in the radio control unit.

  • Sorry for the delay for those who have requested info on the kits etc... My home was hit by the recent tornado and we have had other priorities for the last month! My shop is being used for storage and we haven't fully moved back into our house yet. Once I get everything back to normal I will be able to pick back up on this and reply with the information for everyone...

  • would anyone be interested if I put together a kit (unpainted, unassembled)

If there is enough interest I'll put together a price list.

  • Nice work! I could use one of those.

  • @brw808

Thanks! I have used mine a lot this spring and so far it's worked perfectly. The only regret is I wished it was a little longer. Maybe 5' sections instead of 4'

  • Why not go But the real deal - the Power Pole - seems like all the Pieces you Invented - Are reverse Engineered-

  • @BigJasce

"real deal" cost > $1000. I didn't invent anything, I fabricated what I wanted instead of buying it. I saved over $800 easily and I gained the knowledge of how it works. I got to brush up on my math, welding, and electronic skills, plus it was a wintertime project to help keep me busy until spring.

  • I would be interested in one of your kits. Especially if your thinking about going to a 5 foot section. Let me know and I would like to get in contact with you.
