Conjuring a unique blend of ragtime Dixieland red hot gypsy jazz, The Leisure Class is the hardest relaxing band in show business. Formed in the Berkshire Mountains with the aim to play classic jazz influenced by their diverse backgrounds in Americana, Folk, Country, Bluegrass, Rock and Roll, and Opera, The Leisure Class debuted at Joes Pub in New York City in late 2009. Fronted by Lauren Ambrose and featuring members of The Two Man Gentleman Band, The Hunger Mountain Boys, The Hot Sardines, and the Blue Ribbon Boys, the Leisure Class are soulful and funky, yet humble interpreters of song.

With extensive experience in theater, television and film, Lauren Ambrose is one of the most versatile and poised actors of her generation.
Ambrose most recently starred as Queen Marie in the Broadway revival of Eugene Ionescos tragicomedy, Exit the King, opposite Susan Sarandon and Geoffrey Rush. Directed by Neil Armfield and originally written in 1962, the adaptation follows King Berenger (Rush) who has been informed he has only 90-minutes to live.
Ambrose was also seen opposite Paul Giamatti, Emily Watson and David Strathairn as Stephanie in the metaphysical drama Cold Souls, which premiered at this years Sundance Film Festival. Written and directed by Sophie Barthes, the film unfolds a world in which souls can be removed and traded as commodities.
This fall, Ambrose lends her voice in the title role of KW in the Warner Brothers live action adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are opposite Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Dano, Forest Whitaker and James Gandolfini. Directed by Spike Jonze and based on the classic childrens book by Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are follows the imaginary adventures of Max, who is punished for "making mischief by being sent to his room without supper. The film will be released on October 16th.
Ambrose recently completed production on Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, formerly known as 17 Photos of Isabel, opposite Natalie Portman. Written and directed by Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex), the film follows aspiring lawyer, Emilia Greenleaf (Portman) through her difficult relationship with her stepson.
Ambroses other film credits include: A Dog Year, opposite Jeff Bridges, Starting Out in the Evening, opposite Frank Langella and Lili Taylor, Diggers, opposite Paul Rudd, and Cant Hardly Wait. Ambrose won the OutFest L.A. Grand Jury Award for Outstanding Actress for her lead performance in both "Swimming," a coming of age story, and the black comedy "Psycho Beach Party," adapted from Charles Busch's play.
Ambrose is most known for her critically acclaimed work on the HBO series Six Feet Under as Claire Fisher. In the five seasons the show was on the air, Ambrose received two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2002 and 2003.
In April 2006, Ambrose made her Broadway debut, appearing in the Tony award-winning production of Clifford Odets Awake and Sing! opposite Mark Ruffalo and Ben Gazzara and directed by Bartlett Sher. In 2004, Ambrose made her stage debut at the National Theatre in London in Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Buried Child, directed by Matthew Warchus.
Ambrose currently resides in New York City.

Stunning! There's nothing like the rush you get watching raw talent like this. Apparently Lauren Ambrose will be following in Barbra's Streisand's footsteps starring in 'Funny Girl' on Broadway. That's a tough act to follow, but judging from this, she's well up to the task.
