It is quite angering to see the amount of uninterested expressions on people's faces within the audience. Although perhaps it does reflect that Harvard, similarly to many other 'Ivy League' Universities/Colleges, have become a club for the rich and privileged rather than a resource for those few who really do care about changing the lives of the less fortunate in an effective effort to advance the world. The amount of self-interest and self-importance is worryingly all too common amongst them.

It's sad that 3 million people watched the first part but only 8% of that watch the whole speech. Bill Gates is truly a remarkable man and his message should be spread around all of the world.

He is pointing out the future science: Economy, Education, Environment but specially Social Studies in a new level to make a impact in media, politics and society. "Don't let complexity stop you" Dr Gates has given his contribution for this Harvard generation, they now have more technology than he had in his own past..Lesson of dignity: "How well you treated people a road away that have nothing in common with you, but their humanity.." That said He nails down the snob perspective of live....

this guy is a genius! Gates addresses the real issues in life and not the evils like materialism and money. He is spot on we all have the chance to change other peoples lives and end poverty.

in defense of the people dozing off, while at any Ivy League institution you will hear so much about the developing world and how to help it, that most of what Gates says is very familiar. and this part of the ceremony is at the end of a few days of ceremonies full of very similar speeches. it's true that Bill Gates is the only one who actually did do the most of all the people lecturing, but what he says is not that new. one of my econ profs from Columbia is at Occupy Wall Street with the crowd

Humanity! Bill Gates = Good man. Notice how all individuals that have reached all these great accomplishments care about SOCIETY improving as a whole. Its a big reasoning behind why they do the things they do. ITS A SIGN PEOPLE IF IT WORKED FOR THEM IT WILL WORK FOR YOU.
