  • when i passed my motorcycle test i got told on all mini roundabouts even if it looks clear to slow down and slow ride in first gear or its a fail

  • @mossi123uk

You are taught a lot of things on your test that you will inevitably ignore from time to time.

  • You didnt even let off on aproach to the round a bout! no life save check on aproach either. The van was hidden untill the speedbumps if you had let off/checked your mirrors/lifesaver on aproach this never would of happened. You cant just plough through round-a-bouts on a bike at 30mph and not expect to get wiped out. oh and i ride 80 miles a day to work on a cbr 600f before you call me an armchair critic. Ride on the deffence......stay safe

  • @stefan23ish

How would a lifesaver or a mirror check have helped in that situation?

  • @ms51ves3 if you have a full licence you would know that you should be doing it on the aproach to a round a bout to make sure somebody isnt gonna carve u up, you would of also closed the throttle instinctivly while you look over your shoulder. This slow in speed would of meant the van pulling out on you wouldnt of been a problem. Your on bike, give em chance to see u

  • @stefan23ish

I'm not going to do a lifesaver at a mini roundabout that I'm going straight on at. And you didn't really answer my question. I still can't understand how looking behind me would aid me with a hazard in front.

If I had been going slower, do you think he wouldn't have pulled out on me? I doubt it. He would have still pulled out on me, but I would have been able to stop further away from him. That doesn't matter though because I didn't hit him anyway.

  • To be fair, the biker is completely in the right here, and the van driver in the wrong, but if he had slowed down just a bit, being aprehensive, then he could've stopped much before the side of the van. As a biker you should always be thinking, everyone else on the road is a complete idiot.

  • @TahreyUK "give way to vehicles already on the island"?

please i would love to hear where you got this from?

  • From the highway code:

When reaching the roundabout you should give priority to traffic approaching from your right

When approaching, adjust your speed and position to fit in with traffic conditions

be aware of the speed and position of all the road users around you

So yo had right of way but you approached a clearly marked hazard too fast. The van had less than 2 seconds between you entering his field of view and you entering the roundabout

You only just left yourself enough time to react

  • you didn't give the guy in the van a chance, if you are going that fast no one will see you coming, I've been riding a bike for 35 years and take it from me, ride like no one is going to see you and you might live beyond 40, take care

  • White van cock end!!!

  • next time, get of your bike and kick his mirror of!

  • The white van man.......it comes from outer space i guess....thats wy it acts like it dousn't know sh@t.

  • bloody hell mate!! glad you stopped intime. I could hear the anger build up in your voice. I guess the initial shock was wearing off? People say it on my videos but... "you should have stepped off bike and kicked his fucking ass" lol

  • Man if I was in that situation I would've followed that guy and really give him shit when he stopped. People like that van driver are just ridiculously stupid and piss me off

  • Ok the van driver pulled out on you mainly because you were going too quick and didn't let off or slow down whatsoever. Put yourself in his shoes, would you have seen you coming? I don't reckon so

  • ABS on the bike?
