In this circuit is 2 555's, One 555 triggering another 555. One of the 555's is outputting a very fast frequency to generate the sound to the speaker. The other 555 is turning that other 555 time on and off by means of a potentiometer to adjust the frequency.
I do not have the exact resistor values nor capacitor values. I made this out of pure thought of using one 555's output to turn on and off another 555 timer.

I made this video when I was 12 or 13 years old. I am now (Nov '09) 15 years old and working on AVR microcontrollers. Please feel free to PM me with electronic questions and anything of the mater of electronics.

  • I love how all of these kids who are just getting into electronics are posting here going: Hi, im 1- how did you build this so i can build it myself, shot it to my parents, and tell them i figured it out myself.

  • @jbat3535 read the description.

  • nice to meet you !! i am 14 and i also have a great passion for electronics and tech.

btw, the same exact circuit is in the book "Electronics for dummies"

and the values for the pots are 50K and 100K..

dont remember the value for the caps and resistors..

good for you man! I'm 15 now. I don't really mess with logic IC's anymore. Mostly AVRs. But keep it up. It's a lot of fun. I didn't use the book. Nor do I have it. I wish I had it when I was doing this stuff. I just read data sheets like a boss and did a lot of thinking

  • 12yr old? oO

  • @fabiuh991 I was 13 at the time. haha I'm 15 now. Doing embedded systems.

  • First of all, bombs doesn't beep.

  • @samanthms123 You should probably hyphenate "balls scratchin" and add an apostrophe to "scratchin," so that it ends up as "balls-scratchin' gay fuck." Just sayin'.

  • WHY IS IT CALLED 555 TIMER BOMB?? IS IT BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE 555.

  • I wired a stepper motor controller when I was 15. See if you can do that.

  • Not much of bomb timer sound maker couse you have to do it manualy. (idk what guy gonna do that)

  • Helluva good job man! I started when I was 13, went on to get my Masters. Ya got to start early to be the best! Also if you want to make more fun sounds, look on ebay for a SN76477 sound generator IC. You can do the beeps and the kaboom with it :)

  • it looks like what you did was have one adustable 555 chip control another and created a pm wave the second 555 was the high piched beep noise while the first 555 controled that.

  • You should have just used a piezoelectric sounder. That would have negated the need for a second 555 ic.
