"Waiting" Danny Chan & Sally Yeh

"Waiting" was one of Danny Chan's most famous signature hits. Danny composed it, sang it, and introduced it in his 1984 film "Merry Christmas" where he starred with Leslie Cheung. The following year in 1985 he re-recorded it and released it in his album "Best of Danny Chan" with HK Warner Bros where he rocketed to superstar status with many successful albums. This latter album was one of the first HK pop compact discs released (yes, there was a time when CDs weren't invented yet). Only in 2002 was this album reissued and remastered. Before the reissue CD came out, the original issue CD was regularly seen selling for about US$400.00. I only have the original LP. CDs were expensive when they first came out.

I am not posting the original version of "Waiting" but rather the duet version where Sally Yeh sings with Danny. It is not as good as the original solo version but it is refreshing and very hard to find if not impossible today.

I've never heard this version before! When I was young, I had Danny's version on cassette tape. I remember the cover was red. Does anyone remember those anymore? :) I like Sally, but I prefer the original.

The LP album cover I posted is the first release I know of for this song. I think I have all his original albums and I don't know of any red cover.

The last part of this song is remarkable,the solo piano music arrangement and Danny's sexy voice~ no one can sing it(wu...wu..) as good as Danny Chan.

I always thought so but you're the first person to ever mention it and agree with me. I think I've listened to this song a few thousand times and it's still fresh. Fortunately Danny has some many albums and songs for me to enjoy for the rest of my life time.

sucks that his career never took off like the other singers of his time period in the 80s. Then the newer stars like hacken lee, leon, jackie cheung took off in the 90s. It must've been painful. RIP danny.
