how dare she insult the new england journal of medicine. as if she's SMARTER than those proffessors and doctors whose study is ASTOUNDING... just cuz she's fatter doesnt mean she's smarter or have the right to undermine those scientists who probably checked and researched their study thoroughly. The new england journal of medicine is one of the most prestigious journals. Where did the research kelly cited came from? the new fat housewives support journal?

It's a pleasure to listen to someone so articulate and eloquent as MeMe Roth. Even better, she's not afraid to cite scientific studies that the cowardly and politically correct avoid all mention of. She's got guts!

I don't see a problem. People are social animals and we mimic each other's behavior. I pick up new expressions and speech habits from the people I hang out with all the time. It's perfectly reasonable to think that the behavior of your friends and family affects your own. Obesity tends to run in families. That's not the result of some mysterious fat gene- that's learned behavior. It's not a big deal and no one should be throwing blame around. It just reinforces our status as tribal creatures.

It is absolute nonsense that people can cause other people to gain weight. YOU are responsible for youself. Be a grown up put down the donut! I think this goes back to the fact that We are not teaching children proper nutrition. We make sure kids know how to read and write and do math but not feed them selves properly? What's wrong with us?????

It seems like a pretty legitimate fear to me. I mean if MeMe was anorexic you would have an argument, but she is not. She is worried about become actually fat because of the real problems that come with it.

Absolutely. I weighed 264lbs, my friends became heftier. I lost 130+lbs, my friends and family have jumped on board. This is not the only reason, however, their finding seems grounded. Friends often don't saying "you're getting too fat", often they'll say "you're getting too thin" when you shed pounds. Until you're looking fabulous, and they want to look good with you.
