Sometimes beautiful, sometimes comic, sometimes dramatic: Space and Place is a collection of poetic images that play with the extremes of the Wimmera... Drought, dust, fire, plague, flood. It is a performance that explores our relationship to land, space and what gives us our sense place.
Space and Place was performed for the Natimuk Frinj Festival 2003 and for Meeting Place, the Regional Arts Australia conference hosted by Regional Arts Victoria in 2004
Space and Place represents the
collaboration between the aerial work of Y Space, projected animation work of Transience, Shadow Sculptor, Greg Pritchard, Shadow Puppeteer, Mary French; Musical Director Santha Press; dancer Farren Branson with
Wallup Mara, lighting by Marco Respondek and Traffic light, sound by Darren Steffen of MediaNex, projection by dugfish.com.
Also featured 150 community performers in shadow puppetry, animation, visual art, choir and music.
this was SO riveting on the night - I've tried to describe it several times since. Great to see it here in abbreviated highlight format!
