British youth unemployment reaches record high

Youth joblessness has reached record levels in the UK. Nearly one million under-25s are unemployed, with a large increase among teens.

Former PM Gordon Brown has called the phenomenon an 'international time bomb'. The media has dubbed the young unemployed the new 'Lost Generation'.

Like the punks of the past, British youths have taken to the streets. But they don't want Anarchy in the UK. They just want a job.

What kind of society can't find a use for all it's members? If I lived in a tribe with the simplest lifestyle I'd be given berry picking or basket weaving to do. But here I've got nothing.

@gravidplum being on the dole is shit, but just wait untill your working 6 days a week in a dead end job which has no relevence to your college course you completed, enjoy being on the dole as long as it spans out for you but by all means try hard for a job

Your wrong. Unlike what the daily mail tells you, the dole is not an enviable lifestyle, its barely existing if your a young single male. Sure there are welfare queens who make a killing from social benefit payments but not your average joe, who just wants a JOB!.

I though only America was doing bad and Europe was fine and dandy... Here in Puerto Rico the same thing is happening, no jobs and raise in college prices.
