  • Kook you go home now. You don't belong up here in Maine. Why don't you take your starter jacket and go back home to mASS.

  • That is actulay a lakers sweat shirt not a starter jacket. We live in Greenville and both of us are nativet Mainers so before you run your lips know what you are talking about.

  • sorry Bro not even close to native the state of maine fills this west branch hole up with fish on every holiday to try to get tourists to return to the area...I know its a cheap move....vacationland right? still fun to catch though come with me for maine 5-6 pounders

  • Just beacuse the state stocks fish in a water shed dosen't mean they are all stocked fish. If you knew the difference between stocked trout and native trout you would know that stocked trout have "fin ware" or missing fins. All the fins on that first fish were perfect thus means it was born and raised in the wild and stayed in the wild. There is spawning habitat in the West and East Outlet along with Indian Pond.

  • @bigtrout24 Where is this west outlet located??

  • The west outlet is the Pinobscot right? I went on a canoe trip down it, and cought some nice salmon, no brookies though =\

  • You are judging people buy their type of pole? -_-

  • Only old men, children, and retards are into spin fishing with giant plastic lures.

Fishing is all about progression, from bait, to lures, to fly fishing. Try chasing those beauties on a dry fly with a two weight fly rod, it's a riot, and you won't feel all dirty and guilty afterwards.

Oh, and in the name of all that is holy, crimp the damn barbs on your enormous hooks... might reduce mortality some. Or just kill 'em all, and then explain to your kids where all the wild trout have gone.

  • spin cast reels are for children also.. amateur childs play

  • i think some native fish will have worn or rounded fins on its belly and tail.. fish are fish.. theyre all different.. im sure youve called some native fish hatchery fish and vice versa.. because you catch 300 a year doesnt mean anything.. i catch 100 4-10 lb steelhead trout a year.. doesnt mean i can tell the difference between native and hatchery.

  • id love to go there someday i live in brunswick so it would be a long trip

  • Hatcery born fish will have worn and rounded fins on its belly and tail. Wild fish will have sharp edges on the belly fins and a very pointed bottom edge on the tail. Some wild native fish will also develop wear patterns on the tail if they live in ledge or slate areas of rivers. The tail wears beacause they rub on the hard bottom of the ledge in the wild or the concrete runways in the hatchery. You have to know the stream you are fishing to know if they are wild or hatchery.

  • I am a very experienced fisher I catch over three hundred trout a year. I know the difference between a wild born and hatchery raised trout. You are right they don not clip all the fins and actuly they clip very few brook trout fins usulay only the breeders get cliped.
