This is the first real run of the engine now that most of the electrics are in place
some wiring still to do, and a lttle bit of spilt oil to burn off, but other than that she's nearly ready to go.
All credit to John from COVICS of Coventry for a first class installation, and his technical prowess.

  • all details for the conversion package is on pro-motive.co.uk

front wheel drive was the best choice for this mini - I didnt want to completely ruin a rare cabriolet bodyshell by cutting the rear out. the kit uses a modified mini differential on chain drive - this allows to use standard mini drive shafts.

  • sorry - its been ages since I had a look in here - thanks for all the great comments :)

its currently geared for 125mph at 12500 rpm........the air filter is the optimum size for the engine, and performs well considering it fits under the mini bonnet.

  • reverse gear now comes as standard with the kits from pro-motive. cabrio shells are very rare now, i know of one un-used one but I dont think he will sell it. Engines like mine can be had for maybe 600 - 900 quid, and the conversion package of parts is £3200.00

  • Id love to be in this car when that munter in his BMW with his new Scandinavian wife pulls up at the lights and thinks this will be easy :P

  • why fwd why?

  • @thecrazyhenchman : thats the only thing stopping me from starting my project: a friend has a spare 2003 R1 engine and i have found a few shells for £200 on ebay.... £4000 for a new(ish) car seems resonable to me as long as the insurance isnt the same....
