Two great chase days without a doubt! On May 7th, 2005 Dave Lewison, Peter Ventre and I were chasing in south central Nebraska when we ultimately targeted a supercell storm that had gone up near the town of Kearney, NE. As we approached the storm from the west we started to make out what appeared to be a large tornado on the ground. We were back and forth on this for about a minute before settling on the fact that yes, this was in fact a tornado. What confirmed it was later that evening The Weather Channel aired video that was shot from a much closer vantage point. Yep, it was official. At one point you can even see a horizontal vortice coming out of the main funnel!

Three days later we were chasing again in south central Nebraska, this time near the town of Grand Island. This amazing supercell storm never did produce a tornado, but it had some of the most spectacular storm structure I have ever seen! A true "mothership" appearance with stacked plates and all!! On that day we managed to catch a glimpse of a brief shear funnel, some amazing lightning, storm structure, 60 mph outflow winds, and even some hail. Two days later however, we'd find ourselves in Texas battling the biggest hail we'd ever seen! Check out my May 12th, 2005 South Plains, TX video for that story.

Thanks for watching! And please rate, comment & subscribe if you have enjoyed the video.

  • @tornadovideostock Here's the video URL.

    watch?v=mSl6ZzVgnVg

There are 2 Thunderbolts in the distance in the beginning, then it gets really interesting at 0:45.

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o Will def check it out!

  • @tornadovideostock Check out the video from Lawton, OK of the wall cloud and the sirens. Those have to be the scariest sirens I've ever heard, and they're all Thunderbolts.

  • @bulldozer950 You don't hear the 3V8 that's right next to the 1003. Central City also has a 15V2T. If you listen really closely, you can hear the high tone.
