The steam tram was built in Leeds, England in 1881. It was never scrapped.
It is shown here hauling two trailers of c1895 vintage and is passing Stephenson tram No 1 of the Christchurch Tramway Board.

  • I didn't know that a steam tram existed. This is very exciting, perhaps a longer version could be posted. Thank you.

  • They should put this back on its original route into Sumner, as a tourist attraction!!!

  • Probably one of the world's most comprehensive transport museums. Electric, steam and horse trams, trolley and diesel buses, steam, diesel and electric trains– all operating – cable cars (not actually operating, but potentially so) and a lot else. Plus it is one of the few attractions around Christchurch which is back in service already after the earthquake.

  • I wish I would get to see it!!!

  • its would be fukn amazing to c a steam tram on the blackpool line

  • SALUTE!
