they actualy had to remove K9999 because they realised their tribute character was way more awesome than the original tetsuo.. too bad snk u made too good work !!

ripoff or not, it's sad that they couldnt keep him. i mean lets be honest, fighting games rip off other characters and even real people a lot, but usually they weasel their way around it so that they can keep them in games, it's sad that snk couldnt do that for k9999

@Heavenlyjupiter WELL SAID dude.. This Tetsuo "rip-off" (notice the quotation marks) became more famous when SNK used him for The King of fighters.. I am certain that Akira got more popularity because of all the KOF fans who found out Tetsuo was an anime character.. But alas couldn't say "thank you SNK"

SNK Playmore sowed K9999 without notifying Akira's author.
this is why k9999 cant be called tribute. but i still feel k9999 doenst deserve to remove.
for players, an image right doesnt matter, and i also felt funny and wanted to do it more.

Dammit, K9999 was a badass.
He was the biggest asshole in the roster, had the flashiest moves and was done with more style than any other character.
SNK didn't rip-off Tetsuo, they made him into an icon.
But alas, some corporate shit-kicker decided to remove him over some copyright bullshit.
So tell me this:
If Fei Long from Street Fighter is a tribute to Bruce Lee, and Shiki from Samurai Showdown is a tribute to Kagero of Ninja Scroll...
Why can't K9999 be a tribute to Tetsuo?

I'm with TagerDriver... he's more of an hommage than a ripoff. And they should have kept him, ripoff or not, he was the coolest character to ever appear in any KOF game... but I never understood that, as I never understood how they ditched Angel as well...
