I dunno, a year or two ago a local family of magpies (who already love our house because of the huge trees there) started to nibble at the catfood while the cats were not around.
It's gotten a bit ridiculous, we regularly have all these magpies (and crows) sharing with the cats, who make absolutely no effort to scare the birds off.

  • haha my fave birds

  • They are pretty damn cool!

  • Cool, I miss those guys. Clever Scotty, the food in front of the camera, surely you could hand feed these guys by now?

They once stopped me outside the football oval, they bloody recognised me and saw that I was eating, the landed around me so I shared some of my food with them.

  • There is one of them that'll eat right out from the hand, actually. Can't recall which one... we'll have to start naming them I guess. There's one that has a missing eye, too. Fuck that!

  • My dog won't eat the green bits in his dry food so we put it out and the magpies eat it. They often bury it and then dip it into water before eating.

  • LOL I searched on youtube for more video on this awesome bird and your vid is the third in the line!

  • It's a female magpie that'll do it, from that particular family group in the video. The Baby Bird is still around, too. She knows to put on the baby act to get treated special. :)

  • OMG, I live in Florida, too, and I got swooped by a Mocking bird when I was a little girl. It sucked for me...

  • BarryDennen should narrate this.

  • XD Awesome!

At my old house we had a whole family of magpies that we were feeding.

Awesome fun, a couple of them even ate from our hands.

Try hand-feeding, I guarantee it'll make you contiuously smile for about three days.

  • Never seen black and white Magpies before....guess they are different in Oz.

Over here in Florida, we have the Mockingbirds chasing the cats away...those birds get very testy when they have a nest nearby.

  • Buggers also used to start calling outside my room for me to come out and feed them.
