Short piano piece, very simple overall. There is a lot of filler film music that is basically a slight variation of this (as it sounds like more is going on than really is) (e.g. I just heard a brief note-for-note passage from the very beginning of this in the season finale for season 6 of Dexter). This is the first, or maybe second (not counting the little ditties I tinkered with on my parents' piano) "piece of music" I "wrote." Meaning, I remembered all the notes and chords in sequence and could replicate it. Until I got bored with it and started altering parts of it and improvising. Unfortunately, this was a later rendition: a very uninspired (and ham-fisted) version recorded on a whim for posterity. The song was actually written on the band room piano at South Gwinnett High School, autumn of 2001 (probably September or October), so the song was quite old hat to me at the time. I need to do a faithful recording.
(as a clarification, the dexter sound guys aren't ripping me off (or vice versa for the folks who did it first), it's just a universal little trick!)
