melody at its best!!!!

Thanks for sharing. Very melodious & soulful playing! I'm also hearing some strange harmony thing in parts. Is that the sympathetic strings being plucked or do you have a third note tuned into the taalam strings?

Vijay you are just amazing and to think that this is one of the ancient most instruments of India "Vichitra Veena" (Not the regular Veena) and you are self-thought this is genious at work.

i doubt the origin of vichitra veena. I think its more of a north indian or hindustani classical music instrument than carnatic or south indian classical one. correct me if im wrong.
thank you.

Hi, Thanks for your query. Infact, Vichitra Veena was originally known as Hanumath Veena and Maha Nataka veena, and its origin and presence was recorded in ancient south Indian musical works. It was known as Vichitra Veena, and it spread to the north, where they started making it with two detachable gourds as balancing heads, whereas in the south the original veena's body was retained but for the lack of frets distinguishing Vichitra veena from the popular fretted veena called Saraswathi veena
