The concert violinist Eric Grossman performs the chaconne from the Partita no. 2 in D Minor by J. S. Bach (1685 - 1750) on a violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1717. The instrument — one of three by Stradivari in the Metropolitan Museum's collection — is named "The Antonius" and comes from Stradivari's so-called golden period (about 1700 to 1720).

  • do not try to do squat with a Strad. Stay to the music or on single notes. every time you contrive a chord of your own it is a polyphonic non-sense!

  • BRAVO!!

  • Hey! I looked u up because ur going to b my mentor for Mountains and Strings! I just sent my audition though....

Anyway, u r amazing and hope that someday, with a lot of luck, I can play like u....

P.S. Of course he was nervous! It's a sixteen minute piece, and he's playing on a Strad. .

Also the only reason he was applying a lot of pressure is because the song is an angry, emotional piece. : ]

  • i think you`re a really good violinist

but you should noo you need to show more confidence with yourself cause you have a good technique and a really good tuning

    ooh

and i recomend you not to do so hard your neck

but i really like your interpretation

and ignore the negative comment greetings and mu best wishes

Liz oooh and sorry for my english

  • srry to say this but i think this violin deserves a umm..more delicate touch

sounds like ur pressuring it to get the sound out ..it's a strad the sound should ring out not "forced" n it's a great privilege to play such delightful instrument. lol i envy u

  • he looked nervous at the beginning

  • You still sound great. I heard and saw you perform in Sioux City in the mid 80s. I also took viola lessons from your father one summer.
