Ummm, just a guess: but... is it the story of the old dog named Sirko? ...His Master turns him out because he's getting fat & lazy, & he howls in the forest, where a Wolf befriends him & says "I will help you, 'cuz we're cousins," & devises a fake attack on the family so Sirko can save the day & regain his job. The Master regrets his decision & praises the dog for his courage. ( I don't speak Russian, but that's the story I know.)

yea thats one of the "folk stories" but there is many, and this particular one that he's singing, isnt that one. its a different one, with a very humorous explanation, which will get lost in the translation, even if i tried! :)
