@DanielSel the press was dropped starting in the 1972 olympics, leaving the clean and jerk. many wonder why the press was even a part of the sport.. there were numerous injuries from the press, due to the stress on the spine and the unnatural curvature of the spine when it's performed.

@MeesterChum Make it a press without a clean---a "Savickas" press that eliminates all forces except shoulder and tricep, back movement cannot be applied nor can knee, hip or thigh.

@DanielSel I can't recall the exact numbers but Zhabo lifted so much in the press and snatch that he only had to make one clean and jerk to win the gold medal.

In 1972 the Press was finally abolished, due to controversies about how it should be judged, leaving the Snatch and Clean and Jerk as the sport’s two Olympic disciplines.

@DanielSel Because the clean and press(thats the first lift you see) was discontinued after 1972. The other two lifts are what you see in a modern competition.

dont know was just the video , Zhabotinsky was last to snatch but there seems like some more there , probably to conserve 8mm film they had to limit shots , not sure where/who originated this film ?
