Those who remember (or watched) what happened between Salazar and Piquet (F1 German GP, 1982) may not be aware of this: Salazar just brought forward what inevitably would have happened (Piquet abandoning the race). Reason? According to one of Piquet's former engineer, his engine wouldn't last more than 1 or 2 laps longer in that race.

Great win by Salazar anyway; he wasn't a bad driver at all. ^^
