Train engineer says the title on arrival into Fullerton and gives two friendly horn blasts on the Nathan P2 upon departure, which is pretty unusual for Metrolink trains. Perhaps this was another Amtrak engineer. The train number is 684 to Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo.
Enjoy the video.

  • Cool video. All the Metrolink crews prior to the transition to Amtrak running them are all still the same so this is likely just a friendly SCAX engineer. Very few crew members will change and switch over.

  • @Amtrak458 Thanks! I honestly thought Amtrak was completely taking over and all Metrolink employees were going to be laid off! Man, was I ever wrong!

  • Awesome Video!

  • @Michaellovestrains Thanks!

  • Did you get a scanner?

  • @ocrailfan No, this was steven's scanner. I was using it because his camcorder died. He was right next to me.

  • @AmtrakSurfliner768 Oh please Amtrak will never take over they will still have little commuter railroads

  • @AmtrakSurfliner768 Do comet 1's run on each Metrolink train?

  • @AmtrakSurfliner768 Nope. All existing crew members (conductors and engineers) should be working the same trains as always.

  • @AmtrakSurfliner768 Ok, you should really get one. It makes railfanning a lot easier, especially freight lines when you dont know when trains are coming. =D

  • @Gregory2126 It was leased to alleviate overcrowding. The car is in regular Metrolink service. There maybe 20 of them leased at this time. They should go back to Utah when the new Hyundai Rotem cars come into regular service in September.

  • @GenesisSanctuary Thanks!
