While filming Call of the Killer Whale in British Colombia, Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team heard a consistent message from the scientific community, First Nations and marine conservation organizations. That message was that open-net salmon farms are killing many of the wild salmon runs of British Columbia and are creating biological and social degradation that could last for decades. Open-net salmon farming is one of the most harmful aquaculture production systems in the world and, as consumers, we can use our purchasing power and make a difference!

Don't eat or buy Alaska wild salmon. Up to 41% of the salmon that Alaska exports has been raised in plastic trays, fed pellets, held in open net pens for up to 12 months, then released into the wild. Alaska farms up to 1.5 billion salmon each year to sustain their fake wild salmon fishery.

Here in Scotland the decline was I think mostly due to that exactly, they overfished the future salmon & hence the decline.

Same in scotland regarding wild fish decline & this was noted 10-15 years prior to this in Canada, however the wild salmon have started to return and the aquaculture industry is still here & as present as it was back then. Its an easy target!!
