For Trixie:
Only a dog can make us more foolish than pride prevents, more aware than the senses allow, more happy than a child and more sad than the heart can endure.
The memory of a departed friend can be filled by another
The memory of a departed pet and friend endures forever.

This is a beautifully written book about Dean and Gerda's life shared with a beloved dog. I can't recommend it enough.

Those who say animals have no soul shoud look at the pictures of Trixie and they will see comassion, companionship and love in those deep black eyes. What a beautiful bitch she was and he must miss her.

What great pictures of a beautiful dog! Those of us lucky enough to share our homes with a dog are lucky enough. : ) Okay, I'm tearing up at work watching this. ha ha I'll have to buy the book, even though it will make me miss our sweet old dog who passed away this year.

What a kind and precious little dog Trixie was. I understand what a "family member" like Trixie can do for ones life. My golden "Einstein" makes my life complete. He is so special to me. I understand exactly what Mr. Koontz is saying in his video, because I feel the very same about Einstein. I feel so lucky to have this wonderful bond that comes from having this loving dog as a part of my life. Mr. Koontz puts it more eloquently than I, but his words ring so very true.

I first heard about Trixie when Dean spoke to our writing chapter in Orange County, CA a few years ago. She was a retired companion dog. Thanks to both Dean and Trixie, I learned about Canine Companions for Independence.

How lucky you are to have heard Dean speak about Trixie in person. As much as I would love it, I doubt he will ever get anywhere close to Virginia.
